Eisenach

In Eisenach, Germany, we were privileged to dine (and a few special people were privileged to spend the night) at the Wartburg castle, once home to Martin Luther, where he was known as "Junker George" while in hiding from those who sought his demise.

Being a chivalrous knight is fun.

Brian D. and I decided to miss the bus and hike it back from the Wartburg to our hotel. Here's the view from the opposing hill.

With just an address and name of the hotel, it was fun trying to navigate our way through an unfamiliar city and ask directions in German. [Sadly] we didn't get lost, and managed to pretty much find our way directly to the hotel.

After cleaning up a bit, Brian and I headed out in search of grub and found this place, the name of which translates as "the crazy potato house." The food was the best I had on my trip, hands down, and that's saying a lot.

Entertainment in Eisenach is cheap. Looking out the window seems to be a favorite pasttime.

The Hotel Thuringer Hof, where those of us who didn't get selected for castle duty lodged.

Enjoying a frozen yogurt cone outside St. George's church, where J.S. Bach was baptized.
